Our very own Sam Cole gives you an overview of a "Day In The Life Of A Karting Magazine Editor' as he documents the transition from karting to race cars and watch him as he takes to the wheel of a Junior Sports Car Championship race car for the very first time.

Affordable Thrills, Pro-Level Circuits
If you’re looking for a professional motorsport experience without F1-level prices, fastrack RACING should be at the top of your list. With tracks in Milton Keynes, Swindon, and Croydon, fastrack RACING offers high-quality facilities that feel seriously “pro.” The circuits are wide, technical, and floodlit — Perfect for testing your race craft in all conditions.
What makes fastrack RACING ideal for Gen Z racers is its flexible pricing. Whether you’re dropping in for a cheeky Arrive & Drive session or competing in one of their championship races, the focus is on accessibility.
Their fleet of high-performance karts is maintained to a high standard, meaning you spend more time racing and less time worrying about breakdowns. fastrack also operates its own FTR1 fleet of karts which are arguably the fastest karts in the UK available to race on an Arrive and Drive Basis.
Yes, it’s perhaps not the absolute cheapest option out there, but the value for money is solid.
And their sausage rolls are to die for...
For anyone serious about improving their skills while still keeping an eye on budget, fastrack RACING strikes a great balance between affordability and 'professional-level' racing.

The Gold Standard for Owner-Driver Racing (Without Owning a Kart)
For those who want real racing without the financial hit of owning a kart, the newly formed COLE KARTING SERIES is the answer. This arrive-and-drive championship has built an impressive reputation for offering some of the most competitive karting in the UK. Their Thrussel Valve-powered fleet delivers serious speed, and every kart is meticulously equalised — so it’s your skill, not your wallet, that decides the results.
In addition, the series also focusses on helping you to raise your karting profile through it's impressive racing content which repeatedly goes viral on the socials.
The race structure is dead simple: you book your seat, turn up, and race. No transport costs, no storage, no mechanics — just pure competition. The COLE KARTING SERIES is rapidly becoming famous for not only producing incredible talent, but also acting as a fantastic media platform to raiser the profile of young racers.
The COLE KARTING SERIES races on a national basis on the UK's leading kart circuits and maintains it's own fleet of race prepared karts which are very quick and are maintained to a consistently high standard.
The entry fees are a little higher than casual circuits, but compared to the cost of buying and maintaining your own kart, it’s unbeatable.
For Gen Z drivers chasing high-level racing on a realistic budget, the COLE KARTING SERIES is one of the best stepping stones into competitive motorsport.

Budget-Friendly, Community Racing Across the UK
If you’re looking for competitive karting that really fits the “on a budget”ethos, then TECH 360 racing is where it’s at. This series tours circuits across the UK and offers a friendly but fiercely competitive environment. The focus is on inclusivity — so whether you’re brand new to racing or a more experienced racer, there’s a place for you on the grid.
One of the standout features of TECH 360 racing is cost control. Entry fees are kept lower compared to most national-level events, and the emphasis is on keeping karting accessible whilst offering highly competitive grids. Despite the budget-friendly focus, the atmosphere is fantastic— close racing, passionate drivers, and plenty of opportunities to build friendships in the paddock. Whilst TECH 360 does race at various kart circuits across the UK, it does not own it's own range of karts relying on those that are available at each of the venues it visits. This is perhaps the biggest negative of TECH 360 racing in that it does not control the kart maintenance and parity of the karts that its members race. Some circuits offer more questionable maintenance than others and it's unfortunately not uncommon to have quite a large spread in kart performance...
For Gen Z racers wanting a true motorsport community with less financial pressure however, TECH 360 racing offers a perfect combination of affordability, fun, and genuine competition.
TECH 360 racing is a fantastic introduction to the world of affordable and competitive racing.
